Run-time and development environment     (TSO / PDF)

Background:

The course provides an extensive knowledge of and familiarity with the TSO / ISPF / PDF tools.

 

Target Group:

All IT personnel working with TSO / ISPF / PDF.

The course does require a basic computer knowledge. Furthermore it is recommended that participants have some knowledge of the mainframe development environment to facilitate the introduction of programming in e.g. COBOL or PL/I.

 

Aim:

Participants will be thoroughly acquainted with the development environment and acquire the ability to efficiently define and maintain data-sets.

As a minimum participants will have acquired the ability to:

  • Identify and change profile parameters
  • Define Programmable Function (PF) keys
  • Understand Directory Structures
  • Manipulate data-sets
  • Create and maintain data-sets
  • Allocate space for partitioned and sequential data-sets
  • Delete data-sets
  • Copy and move data-sets
  • Create and Delete data-sets in catalogs (catalog / un-catalog)
  • Create and manipulate data using the ISPF full-screen editor
  • Use TSO batch and output facilities

Contents:

Focus on ISPF EDIT and utility functions supported by information about TSO functionalities as required.

The course is based on extensive practical exercises supplemented by relevant theoretical knowledge. This combination of theory and practice provides familiarity with the ISPF functions and functionalities and enables the participants to use ISPF as an important tool.
